Fly Fishing Adventures Await!
Fishing Down East moves with the calendar, and each tide tells a different story. Redfish cruise through the marsh and over sandbars year-round, feeding on crabs and shrimp across the flats.
Speckled trout slide into the creeks with the cooler months, and through summer the sounds come alive with sharks, Spanish mackerel, and “gator” bluefish chasing bait across the bars and inlets.
Offshore and around the Cape Lookout Shoals, false albacore boil the water with their blitzes each fall—an explosive hunt that’s become part of this coastline’s rhythm and identity.
Some days, we run the skiff to the Core Banks, beach her in the sand, and hike the outer shoreline—casting to bull reds and bluefish as they push bait right to our feet. It’s raw, physical fishing in one of the last wild stretches of coast left in the East.
All fishing with Island Fly is catch-and-release, keeping Core Sound and its waters wild and productive for generations to come.
